Followed by the DOC NYC Pro/Firelight Media Beyond Resilience: Artist on Artist panel discussion on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Building trust with a film protagonist is crucial for creating a compelling documentary, but it can be complicated by dynamics of power and artistic vision. To celebrate the upcoming season three of In The Making, PBS’s American Masters and Firelight Media brought together filmmaking teams to discuss these collaborative relationships. Moderated by Sian-Pierre Regis (Duty Free), featured co-directors Shellée Haynesworth and Michelle Parkerson (Camille A. Brown: Giant Steps) explored how working closely with a protagonist can produce more layered, challenging, and satisfying films. Clips from the new season were shown, offering insight into the artist-on-artist dynamic and its role in shaping impactful storytelling.
In moments and times like this, we’re reminded of the importance and power of #storytelling and how #stes pride comfort, courage, and inspiration! Stay tuned for the premiere of #inthemaking series, season 3 in 2025
